Senior Frontend or Fullstack developer

  • Amsterdam, Netherlands

Senior Frontend or Fullstack developer

Job description

Senior Frontend or Fullstack developer for EdTech Startup in Amsterdam

Leeruniek is an EdTech startup, based in the center of Amsterdam. Our mission is to use technology to strengthen primary education by applying learning analytics for teachers. We provide insights in the individual development of children and create meaningful overviews to analyse the results of groups in different levels. Schools working with Leeruniek benefit from time saved and unique insights in the performance of groups and individual children, to shape education for the better.

The company is well funded and has a working product that is already in use by a growing number of schools and is generating revenue. The tech team consists of two senior fullstack developers, a data scientist, visual designer and product owner. We are now looking to expand with two more experienced developers: one senior frontend and one fullstack developer. We work in Agile/Lean teams that are mostly self-organized around common goals, set for the entire organization. You will be closely involved in the development of the Leeruniek product with direct access to our internal team of education experts. Both managers and team members are invested to create a challenging technology environment to let you grow as a technologist and as a person.

Requirements

Current tech stack:

  • Services deployed in Kubernetes on Google Cloud

  • Backend: Django

  • Database: PostgreSQL

  • Frontend: React/Redux (built with Webpack)

What we want:

  • A degree in computer science or equivalent

  • 5+ years relevant working experience

  • Django or Node.js

  • PostgreSQL with SQLAlchemy or Sequelize ORM

  • React/Redux

  • Linux/Unix - a tail, a grep, a docker file here and there

  • TDD (we’re serious about this, our devs almost feel bad when they don’t write tests)

  • Agile/Lean methodologies (like the founders meant it - “People over processes”)

What we give:

  • A great location in the heart of Amsterdam in a historic building formerly used as a hospital, then university and now office space (10 mins from Central Station)

  • Standing desk ... you know, so you can stand also options to sit if that’s your thing

  • Driven team of technologists and educators working together to make a difference

  • Support to keep learning and follow trainings and or visit conferences

  • Free lunch (we understand you might not believe in free lunches, but come and see, they exist in our universe)
